At Sterling Event Group, we were proud to take part in the recent Employer Celebration event held at City Campus Manchester, recognising the vital partnerships that support the future workforce across Greater Manchester. As an employer partner of The Manchester College, we’re passionate about helping students gain the hands-on experience they need to succeed in the events industry.
The event was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on how collaboration between employers and education providers is helping to build a stronger, more capable generation of professionals. Through work placements, mentoring, and industry engagement, we’ve seen first-hand the value of investing time and resources into students’ career development.
At Sterling Event Group, we offer T Level and vocational students a chance to experience the fast-paced nature of the live events industry. From technical setup and AV logistics to behind-the-scenes planning and warehouse operations, students get a real feel for the industry, not just in theory, but in practice.
We’ve welcomed students into our warehouse and on-site as part of their work experience hours, giving them insight into the standards, challenges, and excitement of the live events sector. Our involvement doesn’t end on site. We regularly attend Careers Days hosted by The Manchester College to speak directly with students about opportunities in the creative and digital media space. It’s always a pleasure to meet passionate young people and help guide them on their next steps.
Being recognised at the Employer Partner Awards was a proud moment for our team, particularly our Head of Technicians, Stephen Brocklehurst, who was given a recognition award at the event. It’s a testament to the collaborative effort between industry and education and a reminder of why partnerships like this matter
As a business rooted in innovation and creativity, we believe in supporting talent from the ground up. Our ongoing partnership with The Manchester College is an investment not only in the future of our industry, but in the individuals who will lead it.
We’d like to thank The Manchester College for continuing to foster such a supportive and forward-thinking approach to education. We look forward to working together to open more doors, create more opportunities, and ensure that students across Manchester have access to the skills, knowledge, and experiences they need to thrive.
