EM Acoustics EMS-61 Loudspeaker
“The EMS-61 is completely passive, yet outperforms many bi-amplified or DSP-processed designs. The enclosure contains an 6.5” (165mm) neodymium LF drive unit, linked via the internal passive crossover network to a 1.7” (44mm) diaphragm, 1” (25mm) exit HF compression drive unit. The HF drive unit is coupled to a constant-directivity waveguide, which produces a 90° x 60° dispersion pattern which can be easily rotated if required.
The multi-angle enclosure along with the rotatable HF waveguide allows use in both horizontal and vertical orientations, as well as use as a compact stage monitor. Two NL4 connections are provided for input and enclosure link. The front of the loudspeaker is protected by a rigid stainless steel grille backed by acoustically transparent fabric. Various threaded fixings are provided in the enclosure for optional rigging hardware.
The EMS-61 requires a single amplifier channel, and the use of external DSP is recommended for system protection with high pass filters and limiters – as such it is recommended to be used with EM Acoustics’ range of Advanced System Amplifiers. It is however possible to use other DSP-enabled amplifiers, or conventional amplifiers with external DSP. Suitable DSP settings are provided on the EM Acoustics website. The EMS-61 requires a single amplifier channel capable of delivering 300-500W RMS into an 8-ohm load.”
