Emirates Old Trafford Christmas Install

Brief

Each year Sterling are asked by Emirates Old Trafford to install a full production that can be used throughout late November and across December as a set package for any events taking place within the venue. The requirement always includes production that remains in situ during the festive period but that can be adapted so clients can still utilise the space for conferences and other events that aren’t Christmas themed. The production also needed to ensure that nothing blocked each of the section dividers, so that if the room needed to be split down, this would still be possible.

Solution

To meet the demands of the brief and create an install that offered flexibility for clients and could easily be adapted for each event, we created a solution that involved the following; robust speaker set up that bands could connect their own control desks into; colour changeable wash lighting to cast over the dining tables, with uplighters around the back wall; hanging pixel baubles across the ceiling.

As part of the solution, and to elevate the stage, we provided a professional stage-lighting package that included spotlights, moving lights and eye candy effects to enhance stage performances. Either side of the in-house projection screen we used gobo projected snowflakes along with a mirror ball which was illuminated with 4 high intensity moving beam lights. Finally, to enhance all the lighting, we used a haze machine in the main room.

Outside of the main entrance we placed uplighters, which could be set to a chosen brand colour or kept as red to fit in with the Christmas theme. As delegates entered through the main doors, a curtain of fairy lights was hung which created a festive first impression. In each of the breakout rooms, we installed an atmospheric lighting package that enhanced each of the rooms, using LED uplighters and wash lighting that could be easily controlled and adapted to suit the needs of the event and client. Included with this, was a user-friendly controller for lighting in both the Members Lounge and the 1864 Suite, giving the option for a DJ operating to create either a static look or a more animated effect depending on what was required.

Result

The combination of all the lighting throughout the main Point Suite and the smaller breakout spaces, brought together a festive atmosphere to each room, making it the perfect spot for any festive period celebrations. By installing something that can easily be adapted to the client, it allowed for greater flexibility with every event that took place.
