Brief

Sterling were tasked with providing the provision of AV, Lighting and a custom printed backdrop for a panel discussion with ITV Racing duo Ed Chamberlin and Oli Bell, top pundits Fran Berry, Daryl Jacob and Mark Howard plus Marine Nationale’s jockey Sean Flanagan. The event was streamed live across the broadcast channels, and held at Headingley Stadium, Leeds, West Yorkshire. Audio, Vision, Lighting, Staging, and a custom printed stage backdrop for a hybrid event, in-room guests along with an online audience.

Solution

We provided a premium Martin Audio PA system to ensure of even and coherent coverage throughout the client’s chosen event space – The Long Room. The Long Room, as it says in the name, is an unusually shared space and requires careful placement of speakers to ensure of clear audio reproduction. The audio package included broadcast quality top table microphones along with Sennheiser EW-D radio systems. The system was mixed for broadcast and in-room presentation via an Allen & Heath SQ5 digital console. Vision included Panasonic 4k displays, Analogue Way switching along with a VMIX system which handled the live stream and recording elements of the production – which was broadcast online to Sporting Life and Sky Bet social media platforms. A Panasonic camera system captured the event and provided backup recording also, lighting included LED Battens for stage backdrop uplighting and profile frontlight to illuminate the on-stage action.

Result

The event was delivered smoothly for both the in-room audience of 120 delegates and the online viewers, with clear sound, professional visuals and reliable live streaming throughout. Careful planning ensured the unique layout of The Long Room was fully covered, allowing everyone in the space to clearly hear and see the on-stage discussion.

The event was successfully broadcast online to an audience of over 7000 via Sporting Life and Sky Bet social media platforms, extending its reach well beyond the venue itself. The result was a polished, engaging production that allowed the client to connect with both a live audience and a much wider digital audience.

This was our first time working with Sterling and it wont be the last. Pre the event, Jordan and the team were always available to chat and advise around the evening. On the night itself, like all events a couple of things were forgotten about from our side. This wasn’t a problem, as on each occasion the team came up with a solution.
