Brief
Sterling were tasked with supporting the Royal College of Emergency Medicine in delivering a seamless and memorable graduation ceremony for their class of 2025. The event needed to reflect the prestige and significance of the occasion while providing a warm, professional environment for graduates and attending families. A key element of the brief was enhancing the existing auditorium setup with additional lighting and branding to elevate the ceremony space, alongside custom lectern branding to align with the RCEM identity and maintain visual consistency throughout. To ensure accessibility and engagement for all attendees, a multi-camera live stream was delivered to provide high-quality coverage for remote viewers. Live relay screens were installed in Exchange Hall to support overflow audiences and refreshment areas, ensuring no one missed key moments of the ceremony. Clear live announcements were also implemented across multiple venue spaces to maintain seamless communication throughout the event. The ceremony was successfully delivered across multiple sessions within a tight timeframe, with the technical production and live streaming elements ensuring a smooth experience both in-person and online.
Solution
We delivered a production that elevated the existing auditorium environment into a visually striking graduation setting. Building on the in-house auditorium package, the lighting design was enhanced with rich purple uplighting the cyclorama, reinforcing RCEM’s brand identity while adding depth, warmth, and a celebratory tone to the stage. The subtle lighting uplift transformed the space, ensuring the ceremony felt special, polished, and worthy of the graduates’ achievement.
Custom lectern branding was added to provide a clean, professional on-stage presence and maintain a consistent visual identity throughout the ceremony. This helped frame key speaking moments and reinforced the institution’s branding.
To ensure family and friends who could not attend in person were still able to share in the moment, a two-camera live streaming setup was delivered via Zoom. One camera provided a wide, establishing shot of the full stage, while an operated close-up camera captured graduates as they crossed the stage and received their awards. This approach created a more dynamic and personal viewing experience, allowing remote viewers to feel connected to the ceremony.
Result
We successfully delivered a beautifully executed graduation ceremony that balanced technical precision with emotional impact. The enhanced lighting, professional staging, and high-quality live stream combined to create a polished and memorable experience for both in-person and remote audiences.
